A beautiful smile boosts your self-image. White, straight teeth are an asset. Confidence is excellent for facing challenges as well as going outside your comfort zone. Tray braces can help you achieve a perfect smile by correct crooked teeth. The best part is they are invisible, and therefore, no one can tell that you have aligners. You can also start the treatment at any age. However, aligners are unsuitable for people with poor dental health or weakened gums. Although they cost more than conventional braces, they have an excellent success rate. Here are important guidelines for using orthodontic aligners.

Eating and Drinking

Hot beverages and hard food can damage orthodontic aligners. Drinking hot tea and coffee is discouraged. Hot drinks will warp the aligners. Wine and coffee will stain them. Sugary drinks encourage the growth of plaque. Plaque causes cavities. Sticky foods can dislodge your aligners, which can hurt your gums and cause pain. Avoid sticky candy and gum. Hard foods can crack your aligners. Avoid raw carrots as well as hard candies as they may break your aligners. You should take off your aligners when eating and drinking to protect them. It is essential to clean them and your teeth thoroughly before putting them back on.

Follow Doctors Instructions

Your doctor will recommend that you wear your aligners for 20-22 hours every day. You should do this to ensure that the treatment takes a shorter time. You should not only wear them when going to sleep. You should usually only take them off when eating or to clean them and brush your teeth. When you take them off to eat, it's a good idea to soak them in a mouth wash solution. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and lukewarm water to clean them. Do not brush with toothpaste or hot water as they can damage your aligner.

Lipstick and Manicures

You may have to give up lipstick when you are using orthodontic aligners. Lipstick tends to stick to the aligners on your teeth. Lipstick on your teeth is both unattractive and untidy.  Clear lip gloss or balm is the best way to go. You may need to use your nails to remove your aligner, and this may chip your nail polish. It may be a good idea to stick with clear nail polish for the period of the treatment.

Conclusion

Orthodontic aligners like Clearcorrect aligners will correct your teeth overtime. Taking good care of your teeth and aligners is the best way to get that perfect smile.
